Dr. Ehsan Gheyour Karimiani, on the sidelines of the Second International Congress on Nutrition (from basic science to clinical research), in an interview with Webda, pointed out that calorie-based diets are no longer effective and that planning should instead be based on personalized medicine. He emphasized that achieving optimal results from a diet depends on an individual’s genetics; therefore, through genetic testing, the most effective and efficient dietary plan can be provided to individuals.

He further noted that sometimes treating resistant obesity with strict diets is not feasible because the diet is not designed based on an individual’s physical makeup. Dr. Gheyour Karimiani stated that through laboratory testing kits, the best dietary options can be identified, adding that exercise regimens should also be designed according to a person’s athletic predispositions.

Referring to the organization of the International Nutrition Congress, he expressed that holding such congresses annually and in various cities with the presence of prominent speakers would create opportunities for students to access the latest scientific resources.
